Tennessee Travel and Weather
Tennessee Travel
Tennessee has a mild and welcoming climate, excellent for year-round tourism and travel. While still enjoying the beauty of four seasons, the temperatures of Tennessee vary so little from month to month that it is hardly possible to pinpoint a single time of the year to visit or relocate. From Memphis to Knoxville, with Nashville in-between, you will enjoy average summer temps in the 70's and 80's and average winter temperatures of 30 to 50°F.
Warm Weather to Appalachian Snow
The climate in west Tennessee is generally mild, with cold winters but not too much snow and not a lot of bundling up. The average snowfall in the west of the state is only five to six inches. The summer heat approaches the 90's, requiring lightweight cotton and linen clothing, but heat never detracts from the sights Tennessee has to offer. As you move east into the Smoky Mountains, autumn leaves decorate the fall, followed by a winter season offering an average snowfall of 16 inches each year. Across the state there is an average annual rainfall of about 50 inches.
Mild Weather Makes Travel Easy
The weather in Tennessee, from east to west, practically begs for travel and tourism. The state is criss-crossed with seven interstate highway systems and a 3,000-mile scenic parkway system. There are 13 tourism centers at all major interstate gateways, and they're open 24 hours a day. 54 state parks, 152 golf courses, colorful river-towns and of course Graceland await your visit!
