Let Lenders Compete For Your Loan Needs

Three Top State Agencies for the Elderly & Aging

If you or someone you know is elderly or aging, perhaps some assistance would make a big difference in his or her quality of life. Several excellent government programs specialize in the needs of the "gray" generation. Here are some state funded agencies for the retired, aging, and elderly that provide a full menu of resources and support for you or someone you love.

Area Agency of Aging. This organization can be found in several states across the country. Their helpful initiatives include Alzheimer's disease support services, community care for the elderly, and communities for a lifetime. They even provide an elderly help line and emergency home energy assistance. State agencies such as this are a cornerstone of the elderly and aging population service sector.

Department of Aging and Disability Services. Despite its misleading title, the Department of Aging and Disability Services (DADS) provides support and resources for all members of the community. For the retired and aging population, DADS offers a guardianship program that provides supervision and protection for adults who are incapacitated. Prescription drug assistance is also available to those elderly applicants who qualify.

Division of Aging and Adult Services. Another popular state funded agency, the Division of Aging and Adult Services, works in cooperation with several local organizations to provide for the needs of retired Americans. Services of this group include adult daycare, homestead exemption, in-home services, and a senior community service employment program.

Each state will have its own version of these agencies, perhaps under different names. A call to your local government office will provide you with a list of agencies that will assist you.
