Comp TIA A+ Certification and Education

If you want to become a computer technician, earning the industry-standard Comp TIA A+ certification is your best route to getting an entry-level position. Many schools offer education programs, some as short as ten weeks, which give you the skills to pass the A+ certification exam. In these programs, you will learn the skills to pass the two parts of the A+ exam: the A+ Core Hardware exam and the A+ Operating System Technologies exam. For the A+ Core exam, you'll learn about the installation, configuration and upgrading of computer hardware, troubleshooting and maintaining hardware, motherboards, memory, processors, printers, and basic networking. For the A+ OS (Operating Systems) exam, you'll learn about OS fundamentals, installation, configuration, and upgrading of OS's, troubleshooting OS problems, and basic networking principles.

Once you have passed the A+ certification exam you'll be qualified for many entry-level jobs such as computer operator, help desk technician, field support technician, network support technician, or PC technician. Your A+ certification will also be applicable towards completing certain advanced certifications, such as those offered by Microsoft or Cisco.
