Information Technology Management Degrees

Information technology management degrees can be both undergraduate and postgraduate. They are aimed at IT graduates and/or professionals who wish to extend their existing skills and knowledge in management and information systems (IS) to support their career development and meet the emerging demand for hybrid professionals.

Curricula emphasize the business knowledge, values, decision-making abilities, and management skills for individuals working in the management information systems field. Although technical content is included, programs focus on the organizational and people aspects of IS.

Successful completion should enable the graduate to recognize an IT opportunity, scale its size and complexity and know what needs to be done. It will enable them to take on consultative roles where they can recognize an application opportunity, make a case for exploiting it, and see how it can be aligned with existing business systems.

The list of possible careers for the Information Technology Management graduate is huge and ever-growing. Good salaries are too many to list, but the median expected salary for a typical Computer Operations Manager in the United States is $75,278 (Salary Wizard). Graduates from these programs can combine knowledge and work experience to provide the unique personal profile that makes them stand out from their peers and colleagues, making it likely that both salaries and promotional probability will be high.
