Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer Certification and Education

The Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer credential is one of the most widely recognized technical certifications in the industry.

Millions of corporations and organizations worldwide are choosing Microsoft products for their networks. This has created a tremendous need for qualified personnel and consultants to help implement and support these networks. The MCSE certification is your way to show these corporations and organizations that you have the professional abilities to lead them in the successful design, implementation, and administration of the most advanced Microsoft Windows platform and Microsoft server products.

The MCSE certification is appropriate for systems engineers, technical support engineers, systems analysts, network analysts and technical consultants. There are no specific prerequisites for the MCSE certification, although Microsoft says: "candidates should also have at least one year of experience in implementing and administering a network operating system, implementing and administering a client operating system, and designing a network infrastructure."

To achieve the MCSE certification, a candidate must pass seven exams five of which are core exams and the remaining two are elective exams. Your hard work will be rewarded though; MCSE is one the hottest career tickets you can buy. Professionals with the Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) on Windows 2000 credential reported an annual salary of $59,400 compared to 2002's average salary of $53,700 (Microsoft Certified Professional Magazine).
