Unix Systems: Sun Certified Education
The UNIX-based operating system - Solaris OS - is the software used to run hardware supplied by Sun Microsystems. Sun offers a certification program for anyone working with Solaris OS, from those with no experience of UNIX systems to experienced systems administrators who need to convert to Solaris from another system.
The certification is at two levels, the first being Sun Certified System Administrator (SCSA) and the second Sun Certified Network Administrator (SCNA).
The SCSA examines knowledge of the features and operation of Solaris, and the tasks associated with system administration, the maintenance of the system and troubleshooting. It is intended for system administrators performing essential system administration and for technical support staff responsible for administering a networked server.
SCNA is designed for system administrators with 3 or more years of experience working in a network capacity and who are responsible for managing a Sun server run by Solaris OS in a networked environment that includes Local Area Networks (LANs). Candidates must already hold an SCSA.
