This little Cascarone is one of the important things of Fiesta in San Antonio and I decided that since there are others out there grading movies with stars, jalapenos, and other more common things...I'd introduce my symbol as the real way to grade movie's I've seen...the cascarone!

Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon
[PG-13]

Chow Yun-Fat

Martial arts, anyone? Ohhh, before you say..."no...not for me"...let me tell you this isn't the typical chop-sake' fare. There was an off-beat martial arts movie a few years back called Big Trouble In Little China that was just too hokey to garner fans or critic acclaim. CT,HD brings the type of mystic, flying martial arts into a whole other level. This movie has so many beautifully directed scenes, it's a veritable smorgasbord of eye food. This isn't your typical whip ass movie with bad dubbing, either...it's very well done. The action in this movie will have your head spinning and your heart flopping. There are gravity defying flight scenes that will make Peter Pan look like he's been grounded.

Story line is that a legendary sword that has been retired by the highly skilled warrior Li Mu Bai (Chow Yun-Fat) is stolen by a masked theif. He relies on his longtime friend Yu Shu Lien (Michelle Yeoh) to get it back. She pursues a masked thief that turns out to be another woman named Jen (Zhang Ziyi). You just have to see the chasing scenes....they bounce off walls....breeze over roof tops....and even float among the trees. If your saying right now this is all too far fetched, nay nay...GO SEE IT...I promise you will not say that after you've seen this pearl of a movie.

There are sub plots involving love and family, but that I'll leave for you to discover. I rarely give any movie a four cascarone rating, but I'm pleased to give it to this one. It may just get the Oscar for Best Picture!
