Careers as Legal Administrative Assistant
People depend on police officers and detectives to protect their lives and property. Law enforcement officers, some of whom are State or Federal special agents or inspectors, perform these duties in a variety of ways, depending on the size and type of their organization. In most jurisdictions, they are expected to exercise authority when necessary, whether on or off duty. According to the U.S. Bureau of Justice Statistics, about 65 percent of State and local law enforcement officers are uniformed personnel.
Legal Administrative Assistant process, track and monitor routine law enforcement agencies expenditures (hosting, travel, medical education, office supplies, etc). Prepare projections of routine expenditures. Assist in the routine preparation and administration of law enforcement agencies research grants and contracts. Track and monitor division accounts (federal, non-federal, and equipment use. Assist in the development and implementation of routine unit policies. Assist in the development of contract budgets, grant applications, proposals, status reports and financial statements. The Legal Administrative Assistant coordinate travel arrangements for law enforcement agencies. Assure compliance with affirmative action and safety programs. Initiate written correspondence requiring interpretation of unit policies and procedures. Transcribe attending notes and law enforcement agencies meeting minutes from dictating equipment. Edit speeches, reports and manuscripts for the law enforcement agencies, style, punctuation and structure. Prepare executive style meeting minutes and take follow up action as appropriate
